Tempelhofer Feld
The disused airport is now Berlin's largest park: 4 km² for skating, picnicking and kite-surfing. Its former runways are open to everyone.
On the former Tempelhof airport there now stretches a vast public open space, Tempelhofer Feld. People cycle, skate and fly kites on the old runways, and there are community gardens and plenty of room to breathe, one of Berlin's most unusual experiences and free of charge at that.
The field lies between Neukölln, Kreuzberg and Tempelhof, and its edges are lined by several U- and S-Bahn stations. It is most striking at sunset over the wide expanse.
