Wannsee
Berlin's best-known bathing lake, with the Wannsee lido, Pfaueninsel island and boat lines to Potsdam. Summer at its purest.
Set in the green south-west, the Wannsee is Berlin's most popular summer spot by the water, and when the sun is out the large Wannsee lido in particular draws many Berliners. All around, the Grunewald, Peacock Island and the Glienicke Bridge invite walks and excursions.
The Wannsee lies in Steglitz-Zehlendorf and is well connected by the S-Bahn (S1/S7), and from here Potsdam is quickly reached too. Ideal for a relaxed day of nature and bathing away from the centre.
