Modern Berlin in its purest form: the Sony Center, Berlinale Palace and towers by Renzo Piano and Helmut Jahn. The square was built from scratch after reunification.
Potsdamer Platz embodies the new Berlin: rebuilt from the ground up after the fall of the Wall, it brings cinema, theatre, shopping and modern architecture together in one spot. Leftovers of the Berlin Wall and the red info box keep the memory of the division alive.
The square is superbly reachable via the regional and S-Bahn station of the same name, and the Tiergarten, Kulturforum and the Mandala hotel adjoin it directly. Thanks to covered arcades it is a good stop even in the rain.
